There are many simple, inexpensive acne remedies that can be performed at home. Often times, depending on the cause of your acne, these methods can be as effective as recommended treatment from a dermatologist. Many of these acne remedies use ingredients that are commonly found around a household, making them excellent ideas for when you are in a pinch!

Acne is a common skin condition that causes pus-filled pimples and blackheads and, in rare cases, can cause scarring. This condition typically occurs in adolescents but occasionally effects adults as well. While acne is not considered a serious affliction, it can lead to low self-esteem, reduced confidence and even depression. To begin treating your acne independently some home remedies for acne free are as follows

Put a drop of toothpaste on the area before bedtime. Sleep with it and rinse off in the morning. This is said to dry out the spot and reduce inflammation.

Using a cotton ball, dab lemon juice onto blemishes and leave it on over night. Rinse off in the morning. The citric acid lemon juice contains will flush out your pores and promote skin cell re-growth.

If skin is dry, apply almond oil to your face. This will moisturize and dilute the toxins under the skin.

Rub garlic on your blemishes. It acts as an antiseptic and antibiotic, killing the germs that cause acne.

Washing your face twice a day with warm salty water will remove the oils that cause blemishes without aggravating current acne.

Make a serum of hot water and chili peppers. Apply this to blemishes using a q-tip. Avoid getting in eyes or other sores. The high concentrations of vitamin C and antioxidants will reduce swelling and inflammation.

Applying egg whites to the face daily will cleanse pores and keep them small and tight, thus preventing bacteria from entering them and causing acne.

While acne prevention methods should be used, these acne remedies are highly effective in removing or reducing active acne. Many of the ingredients required for these remedies can probably be found in your household, or can easily be found at your local supermarket, making them ideal for quickly aiding acne treatment. It is important to note that if your acne is severe or persists you should contact a dermatologist to ensure a more severe problem is not the underlying cause of your acne. However, for most individuals these home remedies are fast, easy, effective and safe.
