Ways to Get Rid of Acne Without Medication

When teens and adults see the dermatologist with a nasty case of acne, they are usually given antibiotics and topical creams to help soothe the problem. However, these medications can have nasty side effects; the problems associated with antibiotics are well known, and creams and ointments can dry out the skin and occassionally make the problem worse. Thus, many people who have problems with acne are looking for natural ways to get rid of acne that they can do at home with little cost or possibility for negative side effects. Here are some ideas – some are focused directly on the problem, while others are longer-term lifestyle changes that will lead to overall benefits, including acne reduction.

(1) Keep well hydrated. One of the many benefits of drinking water daily is to keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from becoming dry. Dry skin can often flake and deposit dead cells on the skin, clogging pores and causing acne breakouts.

(2) Wash your face regularly. You don’t want to do it too much, as this can actually dry out your skin, but make sure to do it at least twice a day – when you wake up and before you go to bed.

(3) Change and wash your pillowsheets regularly. These sheets carry a bunch of nasty germs and grime, simply because we use them a lot, and they will stay in contact with your face for hours at a time. Keeping them clean is thus a paramount step to keeping your face cream.

(4) Find all natural products, either at the store or by making them, and use them on your face. They will often do better for your acne without many of the nasty side effects that chemicals will give you. Two products that might work for you are ea tree oil and neem soap – but make sure to discontinue use if your problem gets worse.
