Self-Help Eczema Remedies

Eczema, also called dermatitis, is hated by all, but more by those who actually suffer from it. This is a skin condition that causes dry, itchy spots on the skin with painful weeping sores that are not only a sore to the eye but also very embarrassing for the sufferers. Do you or someone you know suffer from eczema and you cannot figure out how to deal with it? Well, read on to find some of the most effective ways you can deal with this debilitating disorder once and for all naturally.

a) Prevention is always better than any cure; it is a good thing you can prevent eczema, but do you know how? It would be easy to prevent eczema if you can identify the elements that your skin is allergic to. Some of the things that cause eczema on the skin include cotton and wool cloth materials, soap and detergents, cold or hot water, dust, smoke, rubber and metals among others. these irritants however vary with individuals and you have to identify what exactly causes flare ups in your situation to avoid coming in contact with them.

b) Keep your skin as clean as possible always. This way, even when there is a slight eruption of dermatitis, the severity will be easily controlled because the broken skin will not be infected. Use lukewarm water to clean the skin and go for natural based soaps, such as those made from chamomile, jojoba or aloe vera. Do not use soaps with chemical ingredients because they can trigger irritation of the skin leading to eczema.

c) There are some foods that are known to have serious effects on the body’s immune system. Foods with high levels of chemicals especially those with preservatives, alcohol and food colorings are not good for your skin’s defense system and should be minimized. Instead, try to live healthy and eat natural foods such as vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates and foods with good plant fats. These should boost the body’s immune system and help reduce irritation whenever the skin is exposed to allergens.

d) There are some natural home-based treatments that work well in minimizing the symptoms of eczema and restoring the healthy appearance of the skin. Some of these home remedies include coconut oil, aloe vera and nutmeg. Coconut oil is a natural oil that you just apply on the affected skin to restore the smoothness of the skin, reduce itching common with eczema at night and prevent infections on the broken skin. Nutmeg mixed with water to form a paste applied on the irritated skin alleviates burning and skin rashes that characterize eczema.

e) Detoxify your body to get rid of debris in the stomach and to clean the blood of toxins that often aggravate eczema. There are different ways to detoxify but two of the best are using barley drinks and using sea salt concoction. Detoxification has a ton of benefits and one of them is the improvement of the body’s defense system or immunity to find allergens.
